In a nutshell, I practice and teach Pilates because I love what it brings to me and to others: a sense of feeling stronger, more mobile, supple, and ultimately an overall feeling of wellbeing.
My passion for movement has been with me for as long as I can remember, out of necessity first in my early years, while still living in my home town in Italy and having to cycle every morning, a rather long way, to school, and later while living in Oxford still cycling, to save money!
Few years have gone by! I still cycle, but now more for enjoyment, and with that over the years I have discovered other forms of movement and exercise like swimming and yoga, or more outdoor sports like climbing or simply walking and scrambling up hills.
In all this Pilates has been for me a natural progression of exploration of how our bodies move and work, as well as a way to complement the sports I do.
I like the way Pilates makes me feel, and I am not only talking about the physical side. Pilates has taught me to slow down, to breathe better, to be more aware of how I move, and how I stand, and to focus more on the moment, and on me: a healthy balance of being a bit selfish i.e. taking care of yourself!
I believe that if I cannot feel it then I cannot talk about it or teach it. How will I reach the center of you, if I haven’t learnt to reach the center of me?
Somebody else has written this, but it sounds just right.
And so, because I can see & feel those positive changes in myself, and the sense of well being it gives me, I want to share my passion of Pilates with you. I would like to give you those tools to be able to feel good and strong in your own body, as well as in yourself.
Other than that, my other passions are foreign languages. I can get by in Spanish, French, German, a drop of Greek, and of course my own mother tongue… Italian, although after so many years living in this country I do feel my own language is letting me down at times!
Other things I believe in and would describe me:
- Beauty comes from within
- “Chance” doesn’t exist
- The only constant is change, and ultimately this is the driving force that moves you forward and keeps young at heart.
Hope to see you soon at one of my classes
