Sport Massage and Soft Tissue Therapy focuse on releasing muscles and connective tissues from tension and tightness often caused by postural habits, repetitive movements, injuries and traumas.
Moreover it works in a holistic way by assessing, treating and managing (through prescriptive exercises) areas of pain and tightness. It aims to look at the root cause of a problem rather than just treating it. It looks at entire body rather than only at the area of pain/tightness.
An initial treatment will generally include an assessment of posture, strength, range of motion and biomechanics. Once the initial consultation has been completed a treatment is then designed to specifically target your body and the outcome which you are working towards. The treatment will be based on remedial, sport and deep tissue massage, as well as specific massage techniques such as soft tissue release, pressure point, muscle energy technique, followed by a continuous screening of the muscles and their ability to work properly. This is also supported by a programme of exercises specific for each person and aimed at strengthening and lengthening muscles.
Pilates specific exercises will also be used as a remedial treatment http://highpeakpilates.co.uk/pilates/
